The Pirates will battle for the beach Saturday Nov. 21 at the VC Sportsplex. The Pirates and the Pirates, that is, as the Orange Coast College Pirates (7-3), ranked No. 9 in the final SCFA rankings, will visit the No. 7 Ventura College Pirates (7-3) in the 2015 Beach Bowl presented by Joe Kapp Real Estate. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 pm at the Sportsplex in the first ever meeting between the two programs after a combined 168 years of football history.
Ventura finished the season at 7-3 overall, 5-1 in the Northern Conference. VC shared the conference championship with No. 2 Cerritos, the Pirates' second straight conference title and third in the last four years. The Falcons earned the automatic berth into the SCFA semifinals, however, on the strength of a head-to-head win at the Sportsplex on September 26. This will be the fifth straight bowl appearance for Ventura, a school record. VC won back-to-back conference crowns for the first time since 1983 and 1984 and will be making its 15th post-season appearance.
Orange Coast enters the contest with a 7-3 record, including a 5-1 record in the Southern Conference. They finished in second place behind No. 1 Saddleback. The game will mark OCC's first appearance in a post-season bowl since 2006. It will be Orange Coast's 14th post-season appearance in the program's history.
Joe Kapp Real Estate is once again proud to sponsor this year's edition of the Beach Bowl. They were also the game's sponsor in 2011 and 2012 when Ventura hosted the Beach Bowl.
Ticket prices for the game, set by the CCCAA, are $12 for adults and $8 for seniors, students and children. VC season tickets are not valid for post-season contests, and the only passes accepted will be SCFA, CCCFCA, media credentials, CCCADA, CCCAA commissioners and CCCAA lifetime passes.
Presale tickets will be available on Thursday Nov. 19 at the VC Sportsplex box office from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Gates will open on Saturday at 4:30 pm for the 6:00 pm kickoff.
