For the third time this season, Pirate quarterback Ty Gangi earned Player of the Week honors for the Southern California Football Association Northern Conference. He was most recently named the conference Offensive Player of the Week for his play Saturday at Allan Hancock, leading VC to a 45-30 victory.
Gangi completed 31 of 40 passes for 385 yards, with four touchdowns. He also rushed for 21 yards and another score, giving him five touchdowns for the second consecutive week. The St. Francis high School product led VC back into a first place tie with Cerritos in the conference standings with one week remaining in the season as VC looks for its first back-to-back titles since 1983 and 1984.
