The Pirate baseball team dropped a 10-4 decision at Santa Barbara Tuesday. Catcher Dylan Jackson was 3-4 on the day with a run scored and a run batted in. Bryce Elias had a double with an RBI and two runs scored and Ben Drumheller had a hit and two RBI. Luca Staiano made the start for VC (9-10, 3-6) and had seven strikeouts in five innings but gave up six runs, five earned.

The Vaqueros took the early lead with single runs in the bottom of the second and third innings before VC came back with a two-out rally in the top of the fourth.

Peter Dufau hit a two-out single and scored on Elias' RBI double. Jackson then singled home Elias before being tagged out at second to retire the side.

Unfortunately for Ventura, SBCC scored two runs each in the fourth, fifth and eighth innings and single runs in the sixth and seventh to take a 10-2 advantage.

The Pirates did come back with a pair of scores in the top of the ninth. Elias walked and Jackson singled with one out, and Evan DeVally singled one out later to load the bases. Drumheller came up with a two-RBI single, but it was too little, too late for VC as they fell to Santa Barbara 10-4.

Ventura continues the series against SBCC with a pair of home games on Thursday March 14 and Saturday March 16.
