Pirates on Short End Against Santa Barbara

It was a struggle form the beginning Tuesday at Pirate Park as the VC baseball team was on the short end of a 15-3 decision against Santa Barbara. Reiss Calvin was a triple shy of the cycle, batting 3-5 with two runs scored and two runs batted in and Haiden Letzing recorded a pair of hits with an RBI.

The day got off to a rough start as the Vaqueros plated four runs in the first inning and scored three more in the second. 

Ventura finally got on the board in the bottom of the third inning. Calvin led off with a single and moved to second one out later on Mason Reid's base hit. Letzing followed with an RBI single to score Calvin.

Unfortunately, Santa Barbara continued their offensive output, scoring two more runs in the fifth and another in the sixth.  By the time VC came up in the bottom of the ninth, they trailed 15-1.

In the bottom of the ninth, Aaron McLeod drew a two out walk and Calvin followed with his seventh home run of the year to make the final score 15-3.

The Pirates will close the season with a pair of home games on Friday and Saturday, April 28 and 29. VC hosts Hancock on Friday at 2:30 pm before playing LA Pierce on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
