The Pirate baseball team made it a perfect 4-0 over Oxnard this season with a 3-1 12-inning win on the road Saturday afternoon. Reiss Calvin had a pair of hits with a stolen base and a run scored for Ventura (15-22, 10-11) and Yuki Kawashima scored the game-winning run in the top of the 12th. Jared Hughes pitched five scoreless frames in the start and Logan Knight followed, allowing one run while pitching into the 11th inning. Sebastian Garcia got credit for the win on the mound and Livio Bundi got the save.

The Pirates were hitless through the first five innings of play before Omar Santamaria opened the top of the sixth with a double. He was left stranded at second, however, and the teams played to a scoreless tie through six complete.

In the seventh inning, Connor Hickey doubles to open things up. One out later he stole third and scored on Haiden Letzing's sacrifice fly.

Oxnard evened the score in the bottom half of the frame, scoring on a double steal to make it 1-1.

The tie score remained into extra innings. In the third extra frame, the Pirates were able to plate two runs.

With one out in the top of the 12th, Kawashima walked before Calvin singled him to third on a hit and run play. One out later, Calvin stole second, then both runners moved ahead 90 feet on a wild pitch with Kawashima scoring the go-ahead run. Calvin then scored when Mason Reid reached base on an error for the 3-1 margin.

Bundi came on the the bottom half of the frame to retire the Condors in order, the last out coming on a strikeout, to save the victory for VC.

Andrew Savage and Gage Allen each had two hits in the game, including a double, for the Pirates, who will play their final three games of the season at home. Next up will be Santa Barbara on Tuesday April 25 with first pitch at 2:30 pm.
