It was not a good day for the Pirates Tuesday, as they dropped a 10-0 decision to Mt. San Jacinto at Pirate Park. Ventura (11-18, 6-9) had baserunners in each of the first five innings with only one advancing to scoring position. VC had two baserunners in the eighth frame, but could not find the clutch hit to bring home a score against the No. 12-ranked team in Southern California.

The Eagles scored three runs in the second and another pair in the third for a 5-0 advantage. They plated another in the top of the eighth before breaking the game wide open with a four-run ninth inning.

The Pirates were limited to five hits in the game, all singles. by Reiss Calvin in the first, Omar Santamaria in the second, Haiden Letzing in the fourth, Connor Hickey in the fifth and Tanner Rowe in the eighth.

Hickey reached base on an error in the third in the lead-off spot, and moved to second with a stolen base, but Ventura could not add another base hit for a run.

Gage Allen drew a two-out walk in the eighth, followed by a pinch-hit single from Tanner Rowe before the side was retired.

VC next travels to Whittier to take on Rio Hondo in a make-up game on Wednesday April 5 before heading to San Jacinto to complete the series with the Eagles on Thursday April 6.
