Chase McBean Named SoCal All-State

Pirate baseball designated hitter Chase McBean has been named to the Southern California All-State team for the 2021 season as designated by the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association. The second-year freshman from Boca Raton, FL was also a first team All-Western State Conference selection.

McBean, a North Broward high School product, split time between second base and designated hitter, earning his post-season awards with the latter. He led the Pirates with a .505 on base percentage with 24 hits and 25 base on balls, almost double the walks of anyone else on the team. He led the Pirates with 26 runs scored and recorded 13 stolen bases while getting caught stealing just once. He batted .329 with a .411 slugging percentage during the Covid-shortened spring season.

The Pirates finished the year at 15-13, 11-9 in WSC play.  They came on strong at the end of the year winning their final five games and seven of their last eight outings under second-year head coach Cole Mahoney-Bruer.
