The Pirate baseball team claimed their second season series in as many weeks Thursday with a 10-5 victory at Oxnard College. VC, which is tied for first place in the conference with Cuesta, won the season series from the Condors 3-1. Gabe Baldovino led Ventura (17-12, 9-5) with three hits and a pair of runs batted in with a run scored. Ethan Balolong and Jacob Harris each gathered two hits with two runs scored. Jackson Hickert picked up the victory with a strong seven innings of work on the mound.

VC jumped out early with a pair of runs in the top of the first. TJ Foreman walked to lead off the game, then stole second. He then scored when Medrano reached base on an error. Chittenden then followed, getting to first on another OC error that allowed Medrano to score.

After Oxnard scored one run in the second inning, the Pirates came back with one in the fourth on Jacob Harris' solo home run.

Already leading 3-1, Ventura tacked on four more scores in the top of the fifth. Balolong, Riley Langerman, Foreman and Baldovino all had runs batted in during the frame.

Baldovino scored on Chittenden's single in the eighth inning, and Baldovino and Medrano each had RBI's in the ninth.

Hickert was superb on the mound, striking out six batters over seven complete innings of work. He allowed three earned runs on just five hits on the day. Christian Herrera pitched a scoreless ninth inning.

VC returns home on Friday April 5 with a non-conference game against College of the Desert. First pitch at Pirate Park is slated for 2:30 pm.
