Pirates Take Season Series From SBCC

TJ Foreman had a double and scored, and had a triple for the game-winning RBI as the Pirates defeated Santa barbara 2-1 Friday at Pershing Park to take the season series from the Vaqueros. Zane Chittenden allowed one run on two hits through five innings on the mound for the win while Jacob Martinez scattered four hits in four scoreless innings to pick up the save for the Pirates (16-11, 8-4). VC has won four straight games and is tied with Cuesta for first place in the Western State Conference, two games ahead of third place Allan Hancock.

in the bottom of the first, the Vaqueros grabbed a 1-0 advantage with a hit by pitch and a single. 

Ventura got the run back in the third inning. Foreman led off with a double and Gabe Baldovino grounded out, moving Foreman to third. Medrano followed with a single to left field to score Foreman and the game was tied at 1-1.

In the top of the fourth, VC grabbed a slim lead it would not relinquish. With two outs, Hunter Klingelhoffer drew a walk and Foreman came up clutch with an RBI triple for the go-ahead run.

From that point on it was up to Chittenden and Martinez. Chittenden allowed a bunt single to lead off the fifth, just his second allowed hit in the game, but then retired the side. martinez came on in the sixth, throwing four scoreless innings to preserve the Pirate victory.

Medrano finished the day with two hits and one run batted in while Jacob Harris and Baldovino each recorded a double. Ethan Balolong and Junior Sandoval also had singles for VC.

Ventura next hosts Oxnard on Tuesday April 4. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 pm at Pirate Park.
