Zane Chittenden and Jacob Martinez combined to allow two runs, one earned, on six Oxnard hits as the Pirates edged the Condors 3-2 Saturday afternoon at Pirate Park. Chittenden started on the mound, giving up two runs, one earned and scattering four hits over five complete innings of work, before Martinez came in to pitch four scoreless frames for the win. Sam Langler and AJ Medrano each had runs batten in, and Junior Sandoval scored the go-ahead run in the sixth on a wild pitch.

The Condors took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning with a hit by pitch, a sacrifice bunt, a ground ball out to move the runner to third, and an RBI single. The Condors then reached base on an error to score their second run for the 2-0 lead.

VC (10-8, 2-1) scored their first run in the third inning on a one-out rally. TJ Foreman and Gabe Baldovino connected for back-to-back singles, then combined for a double steal. Medrano hit a ground ball out to the shortstop and Foreman scored to make it 2-1.

The Pirates rallied in the sixth inning for two more runs. Chittenden led off with a walk, then moved to third base on Sandoval's double. Langler grounded out to second to push through the tying run before Sandoval scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch one out later.

Baldovino had a pair of hits for Ventura, which was held to six hits on the day.

Ventura next travels to Oxnard on Tuesday March 12 for a 2:30 pm start with the Condors.
