The Pirate baseball team used an 11-run second inning to propel them past visiting Los Angeles Pierce College 12-10 Wednesday afternoon at Pirate Park. AJ Medrano had three hits in the game, including a single and a double, two RBI and a run scored in the big second inning. Ventura used six pitchers on the day with Tommy Jamieson picking up the victory and Sal Delgado recording his second save in two days.

After giving up a pair of runs in the top of the first inning, the Pirates came roaring back with the huge second frame. Fabian De La Barcena doubled to open the inning, and Shane Gipson followed with a walk. De La Barcena then scored on a wild pitch and an error, and Gipson scored on JT Heade's single. Medrano singled and Chris McKee walked to load the bases before TJ Foreman had a two-RBI single. Steele Ledford then had an RBI single, all with no outs. Rudy Aguilar and De La Barcena drew back-to-back walks, then Gipson and Heade each had RBI singles. Medrano then produced his two-RBI double and McKee hit an RBI single for the 11th run of the frame.

Ventura scored one more run in the fifth inning when Ledford knocked in McKee, and the Pirates held off the Brahmas for the win.

VC next travels to LA Valley on Thursday March 29 for a 2:00 pm game with the Monarchs.
