Baseball Back on Track With Victory over Pasadena

The Ventura College baseball team got back on track Tuesday with a 5-2 victory over Pasadena at Pirate Park. Steele Ledford and Shane Gipson both continued their strong play with two RBI each while Chris McKee had three hits and scored twice for VC (12-13, 4-4). Noah Proffitt picked up the win on the mound, throwing 5.2 shutout innings and Sal Delgado picked up his third save.

The Pirates got on the board in the bottom of the third inning when Gipson singles home Dayton Provost and Fabian De La Barcena with two outs.

VC got another run in the fourth inning when Ledford single home McKee for a 3-0 lead.

The Pirates added insurance in the sixth inning. With one out, AJ Medrano walked and advanced to second on an error by the pitcher. McKee followed with a run-scoring single, and he advanced to second base on the throw home. McKee moved to third base on TJ Foreman's single, then came home on a sacrifice fly by Ledford.

The Lancers managed single runs in the eighth and ninth innings, by Delgado came in to shut the door in the top of the final frame, recording the final two outs.

Ventura continues its spring break schedule with another home game Wednesday March 28 against Los Angeles Pierce College. First pitch against the Brahmas at Pirate Park is slated for 2:30 pm.
