The Pirates baseball team had a difficult afternoon on the diamond, recording two hits and three base on balls in a 12-0 loss at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria Saturday. Shane Gipson and TJ Foreman each had a single in the game, ending a rain-interrupted week of conference play for VC(11-13, 4-4), who remained at .500 in the Western State Conference despite the loss.

Ventura gave up a single score in the bottom of the first against the Bulldogs, then four runs in the third. The Bulldogs broke the game open with a five-run fifth frame.

The Pirates' best chance to score came in the fifth inning when Gipson and Sam Langler led off with walks, then advanced to second and third on a wild pitch with two outs.  Both were left stranded at the end of the frame.

Ventura will host Pasadena in a non-conference game on Tuesday March 27. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 pm at Pirate Park.
