Baseball Falls at Home against Condors

In their final home game of the 2016 season the Ventura College baseball team dropped a 6-4 decision in a game not decided till the final pitch against Oxnard. Ventura collected eight hits with Bryson Wallet and Erick Allegro tripling and Robert Stephan doubling. Joey Contreras, Brandon Ward and Carlos Soto combined to allow no runs in two innings of relief. 

Ventura (17-18) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead when they plated three runs in the second inning on an RBI single from Evyn Yamaguchi, a squeeze bunt from Adisson Pelupessy and a bases loaded walk from Stephan. OC rallied to take a 5-3 advantage with one run in the fourth and four runs in the fifth. VC cut into the deficit on a sacrifice fly from Joey Sunia to score Stephan. This was a close as Ventura got entering the bottom of the ninth inning when Ventura loaded the bases with two outs, but were unable to plate any runs as the Condors picked up the win.

Pelupessy started for Ventura going seven innings allowing eight hits and six runs, five earned with two strikeouts. Contreras got one out then Soto closed out the eighth by inducing a double play ball. Ward through the ninth facing just four hitters and induced a double play ball.

Ventura will face off with the Condors one last time on Friday Apr. 28 for a 2:30 pm contest which will close out their 2016 season.
