The Ventura College baseball team dropped a 6-1 decision to Santa Barbara City at home. Ventura collected four hits in the game with Bryson Wallet picking up his first home run of the season. Nate Green started for Ventura and lasted eight innings allowing eight hits and four earned runs with seven strikeouts.

Ventura (17-17) took an early lead when Wallet hammered a line drive inside the park home run to dead centerfield and slide head first into home to give VC a 1-0 advantage. SBCC responded with an unearned run in the following half inning. The game remained tied for the next inning and half before the Vaqueros went on top 3-1 on a two run home run and then added insurance runs over the final few frames. VC had one opportunity to get back into the game when they loaded the bases with one out, but the Vaquero started induced an inning ending double play to stymie the Pirate rally.

Green went eight innings holding the Vaquero attack at bay over his time in the game while picking up seven strikeouts against four walks. He was relieved by Brandon Ward who threw one inning of scoreless relief while striking out two Vaquero hitters.

VC will finish the regular season with a two game series against rival Oxnard College. The two game slate will start on Thursday Apr. 28 with a 2:30 pm contest at Ventura then conclude on Friday Apr. 29 with a 2:30 pm contest at Oxnard.
