The Ventura College baseball team entered their match up with Moorpark in sole possession of third place, but a 19-8 loss dropped them into a third place tie.  Robert Stephan and Brison Cronenbold each collected two hits, scored two runs and Stephan drove in a pair of runs. Joey Contreras, Baylor Mitchell and Raymond Flores each provided Ventura with scoreless relief appearances.

Ventura (16-18, 9-8) looked to even the season series with their rival Moorpark, but the Raiders jumped all over the Pirate pitching staff with eight runs in the first two innings. Ventura cut into the deficit with three runs in the third inning, but the Pirate bullpen could not hold off the MC offensive attack. Ventura collected ten total hits and drew five walks, but left seven runners on base and grounded into five double plays to silence their offensive attack.

Stephan was two for three with two runs scored and two RBI in the loss. Cronenbold scored two runs on two hits. Tony Fonzo was one for two with two walks, one RBI and one run scored to continue his outstanding offensive season. Adisson Pelupessy was one for two with two runs scored in the game.

Contreras gave the Pirates two scoreless innings of relief. Mitchell closed out an inning for the Pirates with 2/3 an inning of scoreless work. Flores went 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Ventura will look to rebound on Saturday Apr. 16 when they host Los Angeles Pierce for a 1:00 pm game. This game will wrap up their season series against the Brahamas.
