Coming off a shut out loss in their last game the Ventura College baseball team used a 13 hit and 15 run attack to defeat Los Angeles Pierce. Nate Green went eight innings for Ventura to pick up his fifth win of the season allowing just four runs in the game. Erick Allegro, Bryson Wallet and Blake Diaz each picked up multiple hits for Ventura in a balanced offensive attack.

Ventura (16-12, 9-7) sat in a third place tie entering the day just one game back in the loss column of second place with nine games to play in the season. VC fell behind 1-0 after Pierce scored a run in the first inning with Green pitching around a lead off double and an error to allow just one run. Ventura tied the game in the third with a two out RBI single from Wallet. VC broke open the game in the fourth with four runs taking advantage of sloppy defense from the Brahamas to take a comfortable 5-1 advantage. They extended the lead in the sixth with one run and then put themselves well ahead of Pierce with a six run seventh inning and three runs in the eighth inning to hold a 15-2 lead. Pierce plated two runs in the bottom of the eighth, but that was as close as the Brahamas got to the Pirates.

Wallet picked up two hits, drove in one run. Allegro had two hits and a double while driving in two runs. Diaz picked up two singles including an RBI single. Evyn Yamaguchi had a double and drove in two runs. Brison Cronenbold picked up a double and drove in one run.

The win put Ventura in third place by themselves headed into the final eight games of the season. They will host Moorpark on Friday Apr. 15 for a 2:30 pm game in a make up from a rainout on Saturday Apr. 9. Then on Saturday they will wrap up the season series with Los Angeles Pierce at 1:00 pm.
