The Ventura College baseball team took to the field for the first time in ten days after their bye week and a rain out, but the rest was not enough to recharge the Pirate offense. VC fell 2-0 against Moorpark and managed just three hits. Ray Lambert  the recent San Diego State commit went six innings allowing five hits and two runs with 10 strikeouts, but took just his second loss of the season.

Ventura (15-12, 8-7) entered the game well rested, but without game action for ten days the rust was apparent for the Pirate hitters. Brison Cronenbold lead off the game with a single followed by a Robert Stephan walk the VC offense looked in business. VC brought their four and five hitters to the plate with runners at first and third, but a strikeout and a caught stealing resulted in no runs. This was the closest Ventura came to scoring. Ventura managed just two more hits the rest of the game an Erick Allegro single, but he was thrown out trying to stretch it to a double and a Cronenbold bunt single.

Lambert riding the wave of his recent commitment to pitch at SDSU looked every bit the part as he attacked the Raiders hitters. He allowed just one extra base hit, but unfortunately it was a two run home run in the sixth inning. Lambert took the hard luck loss though dropping his record to six wins and two losses on the season. Adisson Pelupessy went two scoreless innings of relief with one strikeout to back up Lambert.

Ventura will now have three straight games coming up beginning first with a road trip to Los Angeles Pierce on Thursday Apr. 14 for a 2:30 pm game. They will then host Moorpark in a make up of their rain out from Saturday Apr. 9 on Friday Apr. 15 at 2:30 pm. Then finish the trio of games with another home contest on Saturday Apr. 16 at 1:00 pm with Los Angeles Pierce.
