In rivalry game between Ventura College baseball and Oxnard College you can always expect to see something wild and a 7-6 walk off win for the Pirates did not disappoint. Bryson Wallet had two hits and five RBI in the game including a walk off single in the bottom of the ninth. Adisson Pelupessy threw a complete game for the win.

Ventura (12-10, 6-5) entered the game with a three game losing streak hanging over their heads, but when it comes to rivalry games against Oxnard all records and streaks go out the window. OC was able to get the jump early plating four runs in the first two frames. Ventura used a Pelupessy two out walk and stolen base to get their rally started. Brison Cronenbold singled home Pelupessy and then walks to Robert Stephan and Tony Fonzo loaded the bases for Wallet who drove a single to right field which plated two runners and brought home the third after it was misplayed by the Condor right fielder.

With the game tied at four, Pelupessy lead off the seventh inning with triple to dead center field and then scored when Cronenbold singled up the middle. OC rallied on a game tying home run in the eighth and took the lead on an rbi single in the ninth. The Pirates though had one more rally left in them. With two outs and runners on second and third and down to his last strike Wallet got his bat on a curveball which chopped over the pitchers head plating Cronenbold and with Stephan running on contact he was able to score as the throw to first was mishandled by the OC first basemen and set off a wild Pirate celebration.

Pelupessy collected two hits, scored two runs and stole a base on the offensive side of the game. As well, he tossed a complete game allowing nine hits and six runs with five strikeouts in earning the win for VC. Erick Allegro added two hits to the Pirates day.

Ventura will take on Pasadena City on Tuesday Mar. 22 for a non-conference game and then return to Western State Conference North play on Tuesday Mar. 29 by traveling to Oxnard College. Both games are set for 2:30 pm starts.
