Ventura College baseball entered the week as the No. 15 team in Southern California and set for a face off with No. 11 ranked Cuesta looming ahead. On the back of Ray Lambert the Pirates picked up a 3-0 win. Lambert held the Cougars to just four hits all singles, did not walk a batter and racked up a season high 13 strikeouts for the Pirates.

VC (11-7, 5-2) has now gone on a series of runs during the season, following a four game win streak the Pirates dropped four in a row and have now responded to win four in a row. Facing off with perennial Western State Conference power Cuesta, VC used timely hitting and a standout performance from Lambert to push the win streak to four. Ventura scored one run in the second inning and then two runs in the third inning for the win.

Lambert reached double digit strikeouts after recording nine strikeouts against Allan Hancock earlier in the season. He allowed just one runner to reach third base and only two runners to reach third base on the day. Cuesta never had multiple runners on base at any point in the game.

The Pirates got six hits in the game with Tony Fonzo picking up two hits including an rbi single. Brison Cronenbold added two hits including a double. Bryson Wallet added a single and a sac fly. While Evyn Yamaguchi picked up an rbi single to get the Pirates on the board first.

Ventura will be on the road for their next two games, starting first with a road trip to Cuesta on Saturday Mar. 12 for a 1:00 pm contest. Then on Tuesday Mar. 15 they will travel to Santa Barbara City College for a 2:30 pm game. Both games are WSC games.
