Baseball Doubles Up Moopark in WSC Win

Ventura College baseball has been a season of streaks so far. This time a 8-4 win over cross county rival Moorpark College broke a four game losing streak for the Pirates. Robert Stephan collected three hits, Adisson Pelupessy had two hits and an rbi while throwing 2.1 inning for his third save of the season. Ray Lambert went 6.2 innings allowing three runs for his third win of the year.

The Pirates (8-7, 2-2) started the year dropping their first two games, then won three in a row after dropping one game the Pirates ran off four straight wins, but a four game losing streak backed that up leaving Ventura at 7-7 entering the day. Falling down 3-0 after three innings the Pirates were able to scratch back with one run in the fifth inning, then a three run sixth put VC up 4-3. Ventura tacked on one in the seventh and three in the 9th to close out a 8-4 win to put the Pirates back over .500 for the season.

Lambert bowed his neck after the three third inning and battled his way out of two other jams to not allow a run before exiting with the bases loaded in the the seventh inning. Pelupessy stranded all three runners when he induced a flyout to left for the third out. The Raiders loaded the bases with no outs in the eighth inning, but Pelupessy limited the damage to just one run and when Ventura tacked on three insurance runs in the ninth, Pelupessy retired the side in order in the ninth for the save.

Brison Cronenbold added two hits on the day with an rbi. Bryson Wallet had a leadoff triple in the seventh and scored. 

Ventura will be back out on the road on Saturday Mar. 5 for a 1:00 pm game at Los Angeles Pierce College. Then return home for a 2:00 pm game at the Pirate Baseball Complex against Pierce. Both games are Western State Conference North contests.
