Baseball Falls Late to Rival Moorpark College

Ventura College baseball faced off with cross county rival Moorpark College at home and were undone by two late runs to fall 5-3. Nate Green went 8.2 innings allowing five runs, four earned on nine hits with 5 strikeouts. Tony Fonzo had two hits and a run scored. Adisson Pelupessy added two hit and a triple. Bryson Wallet collected a rbi double.

Ventura (7-7, 1-2) was coming off three straight losses each in tough fashion with two losses by one run and another in 11 innings. VC got out to an early 3-0 lead as the plated two runs in the first and one in the second. The Pirates offense continued to hit well putting up ten hits in the game, but there were not able to scratch another run across the board. Stranding eight runners on base over the final 6 frames including two in the ninth inning. Moorpark scored two in the fourth, one in the sixth and two more in the ninth to down the Pirates.

Pelupessy tripled with two outs, but was left stranded. Joey Sunia collected a lead off double and scored when Pelupessy executed a suicid squeeze bunt. This was the last run the Pirates plated in the game.

Ventura will face off again with Moorpark on Thursday Mar. 3 at 2:00 pm in Moorpark. They will then travel again on Saturday Mar. 5 for a 1:00 pm contest with Los Angeles Pierce College.
