Baseball Falls at Cuesta, 5-1

The Pirate baseball team traveled to San Luis Obispo on Tuesday, falling to the Cuesta Cougars 5-1. Dylan Colman had a pair of hits for VC and scored their only run of the game while Codi Santana had the RBI.

Cuesta led 3-0 after three innings before the Pirates got on the board in the fourth.  Colman doubled to open the frame, and Tony Fonzo's groundout to the right side of the infield moved Colman to third.  Santana then flied out to center to bring Colman home.

The Cougars got the run back in the bottom of the fourth, and added another score in the eighth for the final 5-1 margin.

Ventura was limited to five hits in the game, with Colman recording two of them.  Fonzo, Michael Volaski and Adam Maciel each had one hit.

Colton Follett started on the mound for VC, giving up four runs and taking the loss.  Tyler EsquivelAlex Van Es and Alexander Torres all had scoreless outings in relief, and Taylor Campos gave up one run in an inning of work.

The Pirates will return home on Thursday April 16 to wrap up the season series with the Cougars.  First pitch at Pirate Park is scheduled for 2:30 pm.
