The Ventura College baseball team stayed close with Los Angeles Pierce College Thursday before the Brahmas put up a five-spot in the sixth inning to pull away.  The Pirates ultimately fell by a final score of 8-1.  Jordan Simon was 3-4 at the plate for VC, scoring the team's only run.

After two scoreless innings, Pierce got on the board first with a run in the top of the third inning.  VC cam back to tie the score in the fifth when Carlos Sanchez hit a two-out single that scored Simon, who led off the inning with a single.

The Brahmas put up five runs in the top of the sixth to put the game out of reach, scoring two more in the top of the ninth for the final 8-1 margin.

Bradley Fullerton had two hits for the Pirates, who scattered eight hits in the game, all singles.

Ventura turns around to host Moorpark on Friday April 10 at 2:30 pm in a make-up of the rained out game from April 7.  Then, VC will travel to Woodland Hills on Saturday April 11 to close the season series with Pierce.
