The Ventura College baseball team edged rival Moorpark College 3-2 Friday afternoon in Western State Conference play.  Jackson Simonsgaard gave up two runs over five innings to pick up the win while Dylan Colman had a pair of hits with an RBI to lead the offense.

VC scored single runs in the second and third innings before the Raiders closed the gap to 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth.  The Pirates plated another run in the top of the sixth before MC scored again in the bottom half of the frame to set the final margin.

With two outs in the top half of the second, Jordan Simon reached base with a single.  He came around to score a batter later when Ryan Coker reached base on an error.  An inning later, Robert Stephan led off the inning with a double, and scored when Colman reached base on an error.

The Pirates scored what proved to be the winning run in the top of the sixth inning.  With one out, Bradley Fullerton singled.  He was sacrificed to second by Jordan Simon.  Fullerton then came around to score when Coker reached base on another Moorpark error.

Taylor Campos pitched two scoreless innings in relief, and Adisson Pelupessy threw the final two frames for a six-out save.

The Pirates next travel to Coalinga to take on West Hills College in a make-up of a rain-out against the Falcons on February 7 in Ventura.
