The Pirate baseball team returned home Tuesday, but was unable to keep up with the rival Oxnard Condors in their 7-3 loss Tuesday at Pirate Park.  Michael Volaski had two hits with an RBI and a run scored while Ryan Coker was 1-2 with two walks, a run scored, and an RBI.

VC starting pitcher Adisson Pelupessy held the Condors at bey in the early going, giving up one run and four hits through the first four innings.  After Oxnard scored one run in the second inning, VC tied the game in the bottom of the fourth.  Volaski reached base on a fielder's choice, and moved to second base on a Carlos Sanchez single.  Adam Maciel was hit by a pitch to load the bases, and Volaski came in to score on Coker's fielder's choice.

Oxnard got to Pelupessy in the fifth with a two-run home run over the right field fence, and chased him from the game one out into the sixth.  Oxnard was ahead 7-1 before VC scored single runs in the eighth and ninth innings.

Volaski singled in Dylan Colman in the eighth while Codi Santana took a bases loaded walk in the final frame to score Coker.

Alex Van EsTyler Esquivel and Taylor Campos all had scoreless outings in relief on the mound for Ventura.

The Pirates next travel to Allan Hancock College on Thursday March 19 for a 2:30 pm contest.
