Baseball Falls at Santa Barbara

A game after shutting out  Santa Barbara City College, the Pirates dropped at 12-1 decision to the Vaqueros on Thursday afternoon at SBCC's Pershing Park.  The Pirates were limited to four singles in the game, scoring their one run in the top of the ninth inning.

Russell Christoff was hit by a pitch in the final frame,and moved to third base on two walks to Jordan Simon and Blake Diaz.  Christoff scored on Josh Olson's groundout to the shortstop.

Bradley Fullerton, Vinny Avila, Adam Maciel and Taylor Campos all had singles for the Pirates in the game.

Jackson Simonsgaard started on the mound for Ventura, lasting 2.0 innings.  Alex Van Es and Billy Davidson each had short stints in relief before Tyler Esquivel tossed an inning of scoreless baseball. Greg Minier finished the game with four scoreless innings.

VC next takes the field at Oxnard College on Saturday March 14 at 1:00 pm.
