Adisson Pelupessy was virtually unhitable Tuesday afternoon. Making his third start of the year for the Ventura baseball team, the freshman from Buena High School gave up just three hits, struck out three and walked none in facing two batters over the minimum in VC's 3-0 shutout victory over Santa Barbara. Michael Volaski had a hit with an RBI and scored a run to lead the offense for the Pirates (5-13, 2-7).

The Pirates received all the offense they would need in the fourth inning.  Jeff Schwartz had a one-out double, and Volaski followed with an RBI double to put Ventura on the board.  Adam Maciel walked, and both he and Volaski advanced one base on a wild pitch. A groundout by Taylor Campos scored Volaski, and Ryan Coker singled to bring in Maciel, giving the PIrates a 3-0 advantage.

That would be more than enough for Pelupessy, who had one of the best outings in the hill in recent memory for the Pirates.  He shut down the No. 7-ranked team in southern California, limiting them to a pair of singles and a double, all in different innings.  He even picked off the runner after a single in the sixth inning.  Pelupessy faced just 29 batters in the complete game effort.

Coker had a pair of hits with an RBI while Schwartz had one hit and scored the go-ahead run in the fourth.  Bradley Fullerton and Dylan Colman also had hits for VC.

The Pirates will travel to Santa Barbara on Thursday March 12 before heading to Oxnard on Saturday March 14.  First pitch will be 2:30 on Thursday and 1:00 pm on Saturday.
