Catcher Ryan Coker reached base on an error and scored a run in VC's 3-2 extra-inning loss at LA Pierce Tuesday.

The Pirate baseball team scored two unearned runs, and held a 2-1 lead into the eighth inning, but could not maintain the advantage in their 3-2 extra-inning loss to Pierce College in Woodland Hills Tuesday.  Adam Maciel and Ryan Coker scored runs while Adisson Pelupessy pitched a strong eight innings for Ventura (4-11, 1-5).

VC got on the board first in the top of the fourth inning.  Maciel reached base with a one-out double, and Coker made it to first on an error, advancing Maciel to third. Jordan Simon then grounded out to the first baseman, and Simon was tagged out at second, but a hustle play by Maciel allowed him to cross the plate before the third out.

Pierce tied the score in the bottom half of the inning, however, with a pair of singles, including an RBI hit with two outs.

The Pirates retook the lead in the seventh inning.  Coker led off the inning, reaching first base on an error.  He was sacrificed to second by Simon.  Dylan Colman singled, and a batter later, Tony Fonzo walked to load the bases with two outs.  Coker then scored on a wild pitch to give Ventura a 2-1 lead.

The Brahmas tied the score in the bottom of the eighth inning after allowing a walk and a triple and won the game in walk off fashion in the 10th with an RBI single.

The Pirates will next travel to Cuesta on Thursday March 5 before returning home to face the Cougars on Saturday March 7 at 1:00 pm.
