Baseball Falls at Home to LA Pierce, 6-2

The Pirate baseball team gave up three runs in the first inning and never recovered, dropping a 6-2 decision to visiting Los Angeles Pierce College Saturday at Pirate Park.  Brison Cronenbold had a pair of hits with an RBI and Codi Santana had an RBI double to lead Ventura.

VC (4-10, 1-4) spotted the Brahmas three runs in the top of the first, and came back with single scores in the third and fourth innings.  With one out in the third, Dylan Colman walked, and Santana doubled to bring him home.  A frame later, Ryan Coker singles, and advanced to second on Vinny Avila's walk.  Cronenbold then singled to score Coker, making in a 3-2 game.

Pierce then scored once in the seventh and twice in the eighth to set the final margin.

Colton Follett started on the mound for Ventura, and pitched well after the first inning, throwing five complete innings.  Tyler Esquivel and Alexander Torres came on in relief, giving up one and two runs, respectively, before Brandon Ward pitched a scoreless ninth inning. 

The Pirates will close out the series with Pierce on Tuesday March 3 in Woodland Hills.  First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
