The Pirate baseball team fell at Moorpark College 5-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

In their first visit to Moorpark in three years after the Raiders' baseball program was suspended due to budget concerns, the Ventura College baseball team fell to the hosts 5-0 Tuesday afternoon.  The game was a scoreless pitcher's duel into the seventh when Moorpark rallied for five consecutive hits with one out to break the game open. The Raiders plated four runs in the bottom of the seventh and another in the eighth for the final margin.

Jackson Simonsgaard scattered three hits on the mound for VC through 6.1 innings before the Moorpark rally.  He struck out five batters in taking the loss.

The Pirates managed seven hits on the day, three for extra bases.  Tony Fonzo, Codi Santana and Carlos Sanchez all doubled for Ventura in the game.  VC's best scoring chance came in the ninth inning when they had runners on second and third with one out, but could not bring any runners home.

Ventura will return to Pirate Park to finish their two-game set with the Raiders on Thursday Feb. 26 at 2:00 pm.  Then they start a two-game series with Los Angeles Pierce at home on Saturday Feb. 28 at 1:00 pm.
