The Pirates knocked on the door several times during the afternoon, but never got the big hit they needed in a 4-0 loss to Allan Hancock College Tuesday at Pirate Park. Ventura had runners in scoring position in six different innings but failed to plate a run in the game.  Dylan Colman led VC (1-8, 0-2) with three hits in the game.

The game was tied through five innings before the Bulldogs plated an unearned run in the sixth to take a 1-0 lead.  Greg Minier had a solid outing for the Pirates as the starting pitcher, completing six innings while giving up just three hits.

Billy Davidson took over in relief for VC, getting just one out in the seventh while allowing two runs, one earned.  Alex Van Es finished the seventh and pitched a scoreless eighth for the Pirates.  Taylor Campos gave up one run to AHC in the final frame.

VC had ten hits on the day, but they were all singles.  Colman reached base safely three times while Tony Fonzo and Michael Volaski  had two hits each.

Ventura travels to Pasadena on Friday Feb. 20 before returning to Pirate Park against Citrus on Saturday Feb. 21 for a 1:00 pm contest.
