Pirates Drop Third Game of Road Trip

The VC baseball team dropped the third game of their season-opening road trip 11-4 Saturday afternoon at No. 7 Cypress College.  Bradley Fullerton was 3-4 on the day, including a double, with two runs scored while Spencer Dubaich had a two-run double. Tony Fonzo added three hit by pitches and a single while scoring a run.

Ventura gave up four runs in each of the first two innings, and was down 11-0 before scoring two runs in the top of the fifth on Dubaich's double.  The Pirates (0-3) also scored single runs in the sixth and eighth innings.

Greg Minier started on the mound for VC and took the loss. The Pirates' relief core, called on early in the game for the second time in three days continued a fantastic weekend by allowing just three runs over the final 6 1/3 innings. Dubaich threw one scoreless inning followed by Billy Davidson who threw a scoreless inning in his third appearance in three days. Adisson Pelupessy pitched two scoreless innings of relief to finish off the game, allowing just one hit.

The Pirates will travel to No. 15 Cerritos College on Thursday Feb. 5 before hosting West Hills for two games on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6 and 7.
