BASEBALL:  The Pirate baseball team fell behind to Santa Barbara, 6-0 and could not mount a comeback with single runs in the fifth, sixth, seventh, and ninth innings in their 8-4 loss to the Vaqueros at Pirate Park Saturday. Scott Morton was the only Pirate with more than one hit and Tim Ginther had a pair of RBI. Mykel Davis had VC's only extra base knock, a double, as Ventura (9-15, 5-7) dropped the season series to SBCC 3-1. Logen Letofsky only made it into the fourth inning on the mound, as VC used seven pitchers on the day.

Harrison Crawford, Michael Volaski, David Newland and Morton scored runs in the game and Davis had the only other RBI for the Pirates.

Ventura has a pair of games against No. 1-ranked Oxnard this week, away on Tuesday April 1 and at home on Thursday April 3. Both contests are scheduled to start at 2:30 pm.
