BASEBALL:  Don't look now, but the Pirate baseball team is finding its stride in the tough Western State Conference North Division, VC won its fourth game in the past five outings with a 5-1 victory at Santa Barbara City College Thursday afternoon at Pershing Park. Ventura (9-14, 5-6) took advantage of three Vaquero errors in the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead, adding another unearned run in the contest. Tyler Watson pitched his third straight complete game, extending his scoreless streak to 21 innings before SBCC scored once in the sixth. Garrett Serino and Harrison Crawford each had two hits, scored a run, and batted in a run while Tim Ginther also had a pair of hits with one run scored.

The Pirates will close out the season series with the Vaqueros on Saturday March 29 with a home contest at 1:00 pm. VC takes on Oxnard twice next week, on the road Tuesday April 1 and at home on Thursday April 3.
