BASEBALL:  In baseball a slide into home can be a good thing, but the slide the Pirates are on is not. VC dropped another contest on the road, 11-1 at Los Angeles Mission College Thursday, thankfully ending a four-game road swing for VC (4-8). Ventura managed just three hits on the day, from Tyler Volaski, David Newland and Tyler Shoop. Jordan Simon walked and scored VC's lone run of the contest in the eighth inning. Tyler Watson made the start on the mound for the Pirates and was the first of six pitchers on the day for VC.

The Pirates hope to return home on Saturday Mar. 1 against Mt. San Antonio at 1:00 pm, weather permitting. They open Western State Conference play at home on Tuesday March 4 at 2:00 pm.
