VC Can't Hold Back Compton

BASEBALL:  Clinging to a 6-5 lead entering the seventh inning, the Pirate baseball team gave up four runs and the lead before the seventh inning stretch, falling to Compton 9-6 Saturday afternoon at Pirate Park. Despite 13 hits on the day, VC (4-4) could not mount a comeback late as they prepare to head to the road for the next two weeks. Michael Volaski had three hits and scored a run while Dylan Coleman picked up two hits with two runs scored and an RBI.

Eusebio Navaro made his third of the season and lasted 6.1 innings leaving the bases loaded. A pair of Pirate relievers were unable to stop the Tartars, allowing 4 runs i the frame without recording an out. Devon Lindley and Logen Letofsky combined to hold Compton scoreless for the next 2.2 innings but the damage had been done.

Brian Magana added 2 hits and 2 RBI while. Tim Ginther had a hit and a run scored. Garret Serino had a hit and an RBI.

The Pirates begin a four-game road swing on Tuesday Feb. 18 at East Los Angeles College for a 5:00 pm game. They will return home on Saturday March 1.
