Ventura Sweeps Palomar in Beach VB Home Opener

It was a picture perfect day at the Harbor Cove Courts in Ventura Friday as the Pirates swept Palomar 5-0 in their home opener for the 2023 season. Ventura (3-0) did not drop a set against the Comets in the triumph. Kayla Murdoch and Autumn Rojelio Moreno continued their perfect season at No. 1 while Averi Carter and Katey Mulville teamed up for their second win of the year at No. 3.

Ana Medrano and Gabby Raines had the easiest win of the day, winning at No. 5 21-9, 21-7. Carter and Mulville were close behind with their 21-4, 21-13 triumph at No. 3. Olivia Sletten and Ashley Johnson produced a 21-9, 21-12 win at No. 2 and Murdoch and Rojelio Moreno defeated their opponents at No. 1, 21-11, 21-16. Alba Romanos Gracia and Grace Williams had the most difficult contest as they won 21-12, 21-18 at No. 4 to complete the sweep for Ventura.

Ventura next travels to Huntington Beach on Friday Feb. 16 to take on Gloden West and NAIA Westcliff University.
