Beach Volleyball Headed to SoCal Regionals

The Western State Conference champion Ventura College beach volleyball team is headed to the post season. The Pirates (16-4) have received the No. 9 seed in the region, and will head to No. 1 Grossmont (19-2) in a triangular contest that will also feature No. 8 Mt. San Antonio (10-9). This marks the third post-season appearance for the Pirates in the four-year history of the program.

Ventura secured the top spot in the Western State Conference by way of a perfect 12-0 conference mark. Grossmont, meanwhile, was 10-0 in the Pacific Coast Conference to claim the top ranking. Mt. San Antonio finished third in the difficult South Coast Conference with a 2-4 record.

The Pirates dropped a difficult 3-2 decision to Mt. SAC on March 8. The Pirates were ahead in two separate matches that fell in favor of the Mounties in the decision. VC has not played Grossmont this season.

If the Pirates can pull through the regional, the state championships will be held Thursday May 9.
