In a rare double header, the Ventura College beach volleyball team swept start-up Pasadena City College club team 5-0 and 5-0 Friday morning at the Harbor Cove Courts at the Ventura Marina. The pairs of Shantalle Ruiz and Kasie Spencer, and Brooklyn Wallet and Faith Mackie both posted two 2-0 sweeps over their opponents in their two matches.
Ruiz and Spencer won in the No. 3 slot in the opener, 21-7, 21-5 before coming back in the second match to win at No. 2, 21-17, 21-11. Wallet and Mackie, meanwhile, won their No. 4 match 21-10, 21-13 before moving up to win at No. 3, 21-10, 21-5.
Morgan Gallagher and Jordan Neria won two matches, at No. 2, 21-15, 21-13, in the opener and at No. 1, 17-21, 23-21, 15-13 in the second of the two contests.
Raphaella Rosales and Vanessa Ihrke won their only contest of the day at No. 1, 21-14, 21-13 and Kambria Dowling and Kayla Hosch won in the nightcap 21-16, 16-21, 15-12 at No. 4.
Ventura won both No. 5 match-ups by default.
The Pirates next travel to El Camino on Friday March 8 to play the host Warriors and Mt. San Antonio College.
