Beach Volleyball Opens WSC Play With Two Victories

The Ventura College beach volleyball team opened Western State Conference play Friday at the Harbor Cove Courts at the Ventura Marina with a pair of wins, 3-2 over Bakersfield and 5-0 over Antelope Valley. The Nos. 1, 2 and 4 teams of Tori Hiott and Paris Dosch, Mikayla Spears and Brianna Finch, and Jessica Simental and Madison Wright all prevailed in two matches for the Pirates (9-4, 2-0).

Ventura 3, Bakersfield 2
In the first match of the day, the Pirates prevailed in a close contest. THe No. 1 duo of Hiott and Dosch won 21-15, 21-15 and the No. 2 pair of Spears and Finch claimed their contest 21=16, 21-13.  Simental and Wright provided the clincher at the No. 4 slot, winning 21-13, 23-21.

Ventura 5, Antelope Valley 0
VC swept the second contest of the day, 5-0 over Antelope Valley. In four of the five matches, the Pirates held their opponents to one set of single-digit points. Spears and Finch won at No. 2, 21-13, 21-5 while Hiott and Dosch triumphed 21-13, 21-7 at No. 1. Daisy martinez and Paulina Iverson won at the No. 5 spot, 21-8, 21-14, and Sariah Flores and Armonee Hunter were vistorious in the No. 3 match-up, 21-13, 21-/8. Simental and Wright provided the closest contest once again, winning 21-13, 21-13.

Ventura will travel to Bakersfield on Friday April 14 to take on the Renegades and Victor Valley before returning home to close WSC play against Antelope Valley and Victor Valley on Friday April 21.
