Women's Beach Volleyball Wins Two Matches

Hosting Bakersfield and Los Angeles Pierce the Ventura College women's beach volleyball team picked up a pair of wins. In the opener Ventura took down Bakersfield by a score of 5-0 and then in their second match of the day VC was a winner over LAP 4-1. Sarah Veloz and Tori Hiott teamed up as the Pirates No. 1 team and won all four of their sets on the day. Cassandra Lacanilao was paired with Cristal Gonzalez and they won all four of their sets on the day.

Taking on Bakersfield in their first match of the day Ventura swept all five contests. Brittney Mukhar was teamed with Paris Dosch and the pair won their contest as the No. 2 team for VC in three sets dropping their opening set and winning the final two for the win. Kierra Joyner was paired with Braxton Jessie at the No. 5 slot and were winners in straight sets.

Following their contest with BC, Ventura returned to the sand to take on Los Angeles Pierce and behind the strong play of their No. 1 team of Hiott and Veloz as well as their No. 4 team of Lacanilao and Gonzalez, Ventura claimed a 4-1 win. Sierra Joyner and Cassidy Simental were winners in three sets for VC at the No. 3 slot their second win of the day.

Ventura is now 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in Western State Conference play. VC will take to the road on Friday Mar. 25 for a pair of matches at El Camino College. In the opener the Pirates will take on Rio Hondo at 10:00 am. Then following that match they will take on El Camino at 1:00 pm.
