The Pirates' women's tennis team opened their 2024 campaign with an exciting 5-4 win at Fullerton College last week. Leading the way was Alexis Schmidt who was a double-winner on the day. The sophomore from Oxnard started the day with an 8-0 sweep in No. 1 doubles with partner Nicole Iannacone. With the Pirates ahead 2-1 heading to singles play, Schmidt claimed her No. 1 match 6-4, 6-0 to help put Ventura on its way to victory. Alexis has been named this week's VC Pirate Student Athlete of the Week sponsored by M & M Sports.
