Pirate freshman Kimora Pooler has been a steadily improving competitor for VC's women's track and field team throughout the spring. The Pacifica High School product has been a force in the shot put and discus, and at Saturday's Southern California Regionals she saved her best for last. On her final throw, Kimora cleared 39-feet to claim second place in the regional finals, advancing to the CCCAA State Championships on May 17-18. She still has the discus competition at the regionals in the coming week, but for her silver medal performance in the shot put, Kimora has been named this week's VC Pirate Student Athlete of the Week.
