The Pirate softball team is off to a strong 3-1 start after a weekend at the David "Hawk" Wilder memorial tournament in Glendale. Leading the way for VC was sophomore center fielder Adriana Clemons. The St. Bonaventure high School product was 8-11 in the four games in Glendale, all 5-inning contests, with a pair of doubles, a home run and five runs batted in. She also scored eight runs for the Pirates. In the opener on Friday against Golden West, she started the season batting 3-4 with a double and a home run and four RBI. Adriana has been named this week's VC Pirate Student Athlete of the Week.
