VC sophomore wide receiver Kendric Mallory is having great season. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Dayton, OH product has amassed 40 receptions for 469 yards and six touchdowns halfway through the 2017 season for the Pirate football team. In last week's game against No. 3-ranked Saddleback, Mallory pulled in 12 catches for 90 yards and three touchdowns in leading No. 9 Ventura to the 44-34 upset victory over the visiting Gauchos. For his efforts on Saturday, and throughout the season, Kendric has been named this week's VC Pirate Student Athlete of the Week, proudly sponsored by Snapper Jack's Taco Shack.
