Jake Luton & Paige Trealor-Ballard, Athletes of the Year, 2016-17

Jake Luton and Paige Treloar-Ballard have been named the 2016-17 Ventura College Pirate Athletes of the Year. Luton was an All-American quarterback on the football team while Treloar-Ballard earned All-American status in both water polo and swimming.

Luton, who earned All-American honors in 2016, guided the Pirates to their third straight Northern Conference title, setting records for season and career passing yards with 3,551 and touchdowns with 40. He also rushed for 176 yards and six TD's in 2016 and was named the Northern Conference Player of the Year. 

Treloar-Ballard was a two-sport All-American, earning the honors in water polo and swimming.  She led the Pirate water polo team with 107 goals and 44 assists in 2016, leading VC to a runner-up finish in the Western State Conference Tournament and the most wins under 17-year head coach Mary Giles. She finished her career as the season and career goal scoring record holder at VC.  In swimming, she earned All-American honors as part of the 200-, 400- and 800-yard freestyle relay teams, and with the 400-yard medley relay team.
