VC's swimming season is coming toward the Western State Conference and state championshp season, and Maria Petraitis is hitting her stride. The sophomore from Ventura High School had a great performance at the 19-team Pasadena Invitational Saturday, highlighted by her second place finish in the 200-yard breast stroke. She also placed sixth in the 400-yard individual medley and was part of two strong relays, the 200-yard medley relay that finished third and the 400-yard freestyle relay that placed sixth. Maria has been named this week's VC Pirate Student Athlete of the Week proudly sponsored by Snapper Jack's Taco Shack.
