In November of 2008, Ventura College president Dr. Robin Calote hired Dr. Tim Harrison as the Dean of Athletics, Health, and Kinesiology.  In his eight years at VC he has served the school as Dean over a variety of departments including Athletics, Health, Kinesiology, Off-Campus Programs, and Performing Arts.  He also spent the 2015-16 year as the Interim Vice President of Business and Administrative Services for the College.

Harrison's first order of business upon his arrival was to hire an athletic director to lead the Pirates. Chosen in the spring of 2009 was current Athletic Director Will Cowen who has led an athletic department that has captured: five state championships, six Western State Conference Supremacy Awards, four times ranked in the top ten for community colleges in the National Athletic Two Year College Association (NATYCA) Cup standings, has received recognition 10 times as a state scholar team by the CCCAA Awards Committee (26 teams since 1996 - best in the state), and on average produced a student-athlete transfer rate of 68%. Additionally, Harrison has worked closely with Cowen, campus faculty, and staff to renovate and upgrade all athletic facilities (most recently improvements to tennis, softball, and baseball facilities).

Harrison first arrived at the Ventura County Community College District serving as the Athletic Director at Oxnard College in the fall of 2007. During his year with Oxnard College, Harrison also served as the department chair, and fitness center coordinator. As Athletic Director, Harrison led the 11 intercollegiate programs. At Ventura College, Harrison is serving on the following committees: campus planning council, budget resource council, facilities and operations group, basic skills committee, accreditation steering committee, and chairs the Title IX committee. In 2010, Harrison was assigned additional duty to oversee off-campus programs, specifically the VC Santa Paula Site. In 2012, Tim was assigned Dean of Communication Studies, ESL, and Foreign Languages for a two year period.

Prior to his arrival at Oxnard College, Harrison spent 13 years as a basketball coach at the semi-pro, collegiate, and high school levels. Harrison's coaching highlight came when he was on the men's basketball staff at Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado when they won the 2002 NCAA Division II National Championship. Harrison, a resident of Ventura earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology from UC Santa Barbara in 1991, his master's degree in Physical Education, Health, and Recreation from Saint Mary's College in 1996, and his educational doctorate in Higher Education Leadership from California Lutheran University in 2014.
