The VC Athletic Department's fall seasons jump into full swing Labor Day weekend with six of the seven sports in action with the seventh opening it's season less than a week later. With the start of the new seasons, VC Athletics is excited to announce our promotional schedule for Fall 2022, beginning with a pizza party/tailgate party on Saturday Sept. 3 in partnership with the Associated Students of Ventura College.
VC Soccer concludes its annual New Balance Showcase on Saturday Sept. 3 at 12:00 noon against West Valley College at the VC Sportsplex. All students with a valid ASVC Student ID Card are welcome in Lot C behind the Small Gymnasium and adjacent to the Sportsplex for free pizza from 12:00-5:00 pm. The Pizza Party becomes a Tailgate Party for students with a current ASVC Card at 5:00 pm in preparation for the 6:00 pm kickoff for the Pirate football team against Moorpark. The tailgate will last until 8:00 pm, well into the Pirates' game against the Raiders.
The Pirate volleyball team will open the long weekend hosting Pasadena on Wednesday Aug. 31 at 6:00 pm at the Athletic Event Center. The Pirate soccer team will host three matches on Thursday Sept. 1 in the New Balance Showcase, with Ventura playing Cypress in the nightcap at 8:00 pm in the Sportsplex. Meanwhile, VC Volleyball will be hosting the Pirate Quad on Friday Sept. 2 featuring matches against Golden West and San Diego Mesa at 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm, respectively.
The ASVC Pizza Party and Student Tailgate will take place during the other two home events on Labor Day weekend.
The Pirates' men's water polo team opens its schedule Friday Sept. 2 at the Southwestern College Labor Day Tournament in Chula Vista while Ventura's men's and women's cross country teams open at the Fresno Invitational on Saturday Sept. 3. Women's water polo opens its season on Thursday Sept. 8 hosting Cerritos at the Ventura Aquatic Center.
Other VC Athletics Promotions include ASVC Pizza Parties for students at VC Volleyball on Sept. 28 and Pirate Soccer on Oct. 28. All students with valid ASVC Cards are welcome to attend free of charge and receive free pizza during the games.
The Pirates will host Youth Sports Nights at VC Football on Sept. 17, Pirate Soccer on Oct. 11 and Ventura Volleyball on Oct. 26. Each child 14 years-old and younger wearing a youth sports jersey or camp t-shirt will receive free admission, along with one accompanying adult.
Ventura College Athletics will also host a First Responder Night at the Pirate football game on Oct. 1, a Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night on Oct. 29 and a Veterans/Military Appreciation night on Nov. 5.
VC Pirate home events are now entirely cashless. Tickets for home football, soccer and volleyball games are available online at https://ventura.vbotickets.com/events and can be purchased and printed at home. Fans can also purchase tickets using their smart device at the gate.
